Bruce ThompsonHealth Care REIT Pioneer Bruce Thompson Dies

Bruce G. Thompson, a former president, chairman and chief executive officer of Health Care REIT, Inc. (NYSE: HCN), died of cancer on Nov. 24, 2005 at age 76. Together with his former Yale roommate Frederic D. Wolfe, Thompson formed the first REIT completely devoted to health care properties, Health Care Fund, later to become known as Health Care REIT. During his lifetime, Thompson also served on the board of trustees for the Medical College of Ohio and Kingston HealthCare Company in Toledo. Thompson remained a director for Health Care REIT until his death.
Larry D. Willard has replaced Scott D. Jackson as the new chairman and chief executive officer at Affordable Residential Communities (NYSE: ARC). Former director James F. Kimsey has been named the company president and chief operating officer.

BioMed Realty Trust, Inc. (NYSE: BMR) has appointed its former vice president and chief accounting officer, Karen Sztraicher, as its principal accounting officer.

Stuart J. Beebe is the new president and CEO at CNL Retirement Properties. Beebe previously served as the health care REIT’s executive vice president of acquisitions and finance. He replaces Thomas J. Hutchison III.

Edward Sham is the new vice president and controller of Digital Realty Trust (NYSE: DLR), succeeding Cary Anderson in September. Previously, Sham was the vice president and corporate controller for Catellus Development Corporation.

Former Senior Vice President of Corporate Strategy Debbie Ferruzzi has been promoted to executive vice president of corporate strategy at Equity Office Properties Trust (NYSE: EOP). Joe Stettinius has been appointed the new senior vice president for the Washington, D.C. and Northern Virginia portfolio.

In October, Mark Hutchinson became the new president of GE Commercial Finance Real Estate Asia-Pacific. Previously, Hutchinson served as vice president of capital markets in the capital solutions group at GE.

In addition to her role as chief financial officer, Wendy Simpson of LTC Properties, Inc. (NYSE: LTC) has been named the company’s new president and chief operating officer.

Kenneth M. Duberstein, the current chairman and CEO of The Duberstein Group, has been appointed to Mack-Cali Realty Corporation’s (NYSE: CLI) board of directors. His appointment fills the vacant position of former board member Martin Gruss.

The Mills Corporation (NYSE: MLS) has announced several management changes. Gordon "Tad" Glenn became executive vice president and general counsel. Tom Frost retired as executive vice president at the end of 2005. On April 1, 2006, Kenneth Parent will retire as chief operating officer.

Regency Centers Corporation (NYSE: REG) announced the promotion of Brian Smith to the newly created position of chief investment officer for the company.

Robert J. Brehl has been named chief accounting officer and controller for Ventas, Inc. (NYSE: VTR). Brehl is replacing K. Travis George.

The founder, president and chairman of Integrated Business Systems, Robert Entin, has joined Vornado Realty Trust (NYSE: VNO) as its chief information officer.
